The 3rd edition of the Indo-European Conference on Standards & Emerging Technology was organized in New Delhi on 26th April 2018. The Conference was organised by the European Standards Organisations (CEN, CENELEC, ETSI) along with European Commission (EC) and European Free Trade Association (EFTA) in the framework of its Project SESEI (Seconded European Standardization Expert in India) and in association with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).  Over 70 international and Indian experts presented their views on the emerging standards requirements in the new age technologies and their significance in creating global networks for communications that has started to impact all aspects of businesses and daily lives of citizens. 

The key topics of discussions were existing and emerging stadards in emerging technology areas such as  ICT covering Machine to Machine (M2M) / Internet of Things (IoT) and its role in Smart City & Cyber Security; Automotive covering Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) and e-Mobility and Smart Energy covering Smart Grid, Smart Meter, LVDC, Micro Grid. Three study reports in these areas were released at the conference identifying updates on the latest global and Indian developments around Standardisation related policies & legislations, Gaps and Challenges and the Way forward.

The conference was inaugurated by Mr Anup Wadhawan, Special Secretary, Ministry of Commerce and Mrs Surina Rajan, Director General, Bureau of Indian Standards.

Mr Tomasz Kozlowski, Ambassador of the European Union to India, Mr Joaquim Nunes de Almeida, Director - Single Market Policy, Regulation and Implementation, European Commission, DG-GROW, Mr Simon Hicks, Chairman ETSI General Assembly, UK Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport addressed the audience highlighting the developments and future requirements for standards in the digital space in Europe and India and on potential areas of cooperation.
